Sorry it’s taken me so long to get the Shafer Plaza info online! The elections and the new features on the site have been a bit distracting. For those who aren’t familiar with Shafer Plaza, it’s just north of Highway 80, along FM-548. You can see the two buildings from the Highway, they’re almost finished, it looks like. One thing I have confirmed is that Shafer Plaza will have a Cold Stone Creamery – if you’ve never been to a Cold Stone, make sure to check them out as soon as they open, they have amazing ice cream. The complex will have 80,000 square feet of retail space, and there’s some rumors going around about what might be in that space…

Shafer Plaza, in addition to the 80,000 square feet of retail space, will also have several restaurant pad sites. According to a post on the ABetterForney.com forums, that retail space, in addition to the Cold Stone Creamery, will contain a dentist’s office, a Sport Clips and a Cingular store. Other rumors I’ve heard are a Chinese restaurant, a nail salon, a beauty supply store and a tanning salon. Given the proximity to the neighborhoods along Ridgecrest as well as Windmill Farms, all of those sound pretty likely, to me. The pad sites have been sold, from what I’ve heard, including one to a well known national chain restaurant, but I have yet to figure out which one.

Shafer Plaza is also where the new Walgreens will be, as well as the Jiffy Lube, if I understand things correctly.
