If you’ve seen the dirt being moved around near the Cold Stone and the Cingular Store, between there and the new Chase that’s under construction, that’s where Walgreens will be relatively soon.

Also, I’ve gotten fairly solid confirmation that the Starbucks will be in the building in Shafer Plaza that is currently closest to Highway 80 – the one with the drive-through cut-out on the south side (the side that faces the highway). Rumors put the grand opening anywhere from April to June.

The Walgreens will be Walgreens Store # 10817. Subcontractor bids were due in by late December, and things really seem to be moving now. Looks like if the weather will dry up for a few days, they should be able to start work on the foundation fairly soon. No word on exactly when it will open, but I’m sure by sometime this summer it will be done.

Chick-Fil-A, Walgreens and Starbucks…this time last year, Forney didn’t even have a Lowe’s or Whataburger yet…and by this summer, we should have Chick-Fil-A, Walgreens, Starbucks and many, many more restaurants and retailers. It’s an exciting time to live in our beautiful city.
