Forney I.S.D. is offering five Adult Education courses this fall.  These courses are designed to meet specific needs and/or community interests.  The Adult GED and ESL courses are free, while the others cost a nominal fee to cover supplies.

The Fall 2008 Adult Education course offerings are as follows:

• Adult ESL: This course is designed for persons who wish to learn to speak and write English with greater fluency and understanding. This course is free to the community, and free babysitting is provided.  Meets Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 9th at the FHS library conference room from 6-8pm.

• GED Prep: This course is a self-paced computer program that helps fill the gaps in a person’s education in order for that person to achieve a state-recognized equivalent to a high school diploma. This course is free to the community. Meets Mondays and Tuesdays from 5:45-7:45pm at FHS Room 219.

• Basic Conversational Spanish: This course is for persons with little or no background knowledge of Spanish who wish to learn the basics.  The cost is $45 which must be paid in advance.  Click here for a registration form.  Meets for 10 weeks beginning Monday October 13th from 6:30-8pm at FHS Room 415.

• Hunter’s Education: Course has passed (was offered Sept. 16th and 20th).

• You Can Paint: Even beginners can start and finish an oil painting worthy of framing in these fun and inspiring classes.  All art supplies are furnished.  Wear old clothes and bring a roll of paper towels.  Cost is $40 per class to be paid in advance.  Click here for a registration form.  There are four classes being offered: September 13th (Monet’s Lily Pond), October 11th (Van Gogh’s Sunflowers), November 1st (Aspen Splendor in the Rocky), and December 13th (Sparkling Snow Scene).  The class meets from 10am-1pm in the FHS cafeteria.

Payment deadline is 5 business days prior to class start and you may pay via check or money order payable to FISD.
