Weatherford murder suspect Johnny Reed arrested by Kaufman County Sheriff’s Deputies.

News Release by  Sgt. Bryan Francis, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office

On Thursday morning at about 12:50 am Kaufman County Patrol Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop for failure to stop at proper place and improper lane change on a white Chevrolet two door pickup. Officers didn’t realize as they approached that inside the vehicle was Johnny Preston Reed who is wanted in connection with a recent homicide in Weatherford.

Deputies stopped the pickup in the 400 block of highway 80 in the city of Terrell. As Deputies approached the vehicle they observed three occupants. Deputies attempted to obtain identification on the driver and two passengers. Deputies removed the occupants from the vehicle for their safety and moved them to the side of the road. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered a large amount of marijuana and a pistol. During the search one of the passengers who had identified himself as Eddie Reed fled the location on foot. After a short foot chase he was apprehended by patrol Deputies. Reed admitted that the marijuana belonged to him. After verifying identification Deputies released the other occupants of the vehicle and transported Reed to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department. Once at the Sheriff’s Department Deputies discovered Eddie Reed was in fact Johnny Preston Reed, 24 of Weatherford, and wanted in connection with a homicide in the city of Weatherford.

Me too! And I don’t even know about the homicide. Hopefully the pic will help find this “Popeye” guy.
PD should really question the “other occupants” more, if they can.
