Windmill Farms Community Watch Hosts National Night Out Event

Local residents, elected officials and law enforcement personnel joined together on Tuesday, October 7th in Windmill Farms for a celebration of National Night Out, organized by the Windmill Farms Community Watch. With a record turnout, residents from Windmill Farms and the surrounding area got to know their neighbors, toured the Kaufman County Emergency Communication Mobile Command Post, met local elected officials and won prizes donated area businesses.

In addition, the winners of the ‘Preventing Crime in Your Community’ Essay/Poster Contest were announced and have been posted on the Windmill Farms Community Watch website.

KCSO K9 UnitThe Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office was present, including a K9 Unit and the Kaufman County Emergency Communication Mobile Command Post. On hand from KCSO were Lt. Huddleston, Sgt. Wiedner, Sgt. Hinijosa and Sgt. Francis.

In addition to the Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 2 Constable Joe Don Law and Deputy Constable Sgt. Scott Whitworth were in attendance, with Constable Law’s badge-shaped stickers being one of the big hits of the night with the children in attendance.

Law enforcement wasn’t the sole focus of the evening, however, with representatives from TxDOT and Farmers Electric Co-op also in attendance distributing safety information. Precinct 2 Commissioner Ray Clark also attended the event and took the opportunity to mingle with his constituents.

The Forney Fire Department was present and allowed children the chance to sit in the driver’s seat of a fire truck and talk to firefighters while ETMC brought an ambulance so that kids could meet paramedics and see what the inside of an ambulance was like.

Finally, both the YMCA Bounce House and the Chick-Fil-A Cow were, as always, big hits with the kids!

Forney Fire DepartmentThe Windmill Farms Community Watch would like to thank their National Night Out Committee Chair, Jamie Coleman, for all the time, energy and effort she put into making the event a success. Furthermore, the Watch thanks Brookshire’s for their donations & support, as well as Warezabouts, the Forney Starplex Theater, Cici’s Pizza (Terrell location), Chick-Fil-A and WalMart for their donations and support.
