Highway 80 Accident Involving UPS Truck Pulling Two Trailers
The Forney Police Department has released the following information regarding an accident on Highway 80 in Forney on the afternoon February 18th, 2009.
At approx 12:21 today, a UPS Truck pulling two trailers was heading westbound on US Hwy 80 in Forney west of Pinson road. The driver veered to the right, striking the metal guardrail and concrete bridge rail. The right fuel tank was damaged and resulted in a fire in the cab. The fire then spread to the first trailer, igniting the contents. Emergency vehicles arrived to the scene and attempted to contain the fire. The contents of the second trailer were not damaged. The fire in the first trailer became intense and the contents had to be dumped on the median in order for fire fighters to extinguish the flames. Traffic was diverted to the north service road for safety reasons. The truck and trailers were removed by wreckers and the highway was reopened at approx. 3:17 pm. No injuries were reported as a result of this accident.
