The Forney Independent School District issued a Child Safety Alert on Tuesday, May 5 as a result of a situation that occurred near Criswell Elementary School on Monday, May 4. A parent of a student at Criswell Elementary reported that her child was confronted by two individuals shortly after exiting the bus near Concord and Brazos.

The student reported that two white males in their mid-20’s or early 30’s driving a small gold/bronze color car confronted them as the student walked home after exiting the bus. The passenger of the car exited the vehicle and approached the student. The student jumped a neighbor’s fence and knocked on the back door of the house until the door was answered. A report has been filed with the Forney Police Department.

The Forney ISD School Resource Officers (SROs) and the district’s transportation department have been notified. The SROs are currently driving the neighborhoods near Criswell in search of a vehicle that matches the description provided by the student.

The district encourages parents to talk with their children about what to do if they are ever in a situation like this.

1. Students should always walk home in groups instead of by themselves.

2. If confronted by a stranger, students should run away as fast as possible to a friend’s house or to the nearest house or business possible.

3. If a student notices someone suspicious immediately after exiting a school bus, the student should return to the bus and tell the bus driver.

4. Students should report any incidents or suspicious individuals to their parents and the school immediately.
