Forney (Tuesday, September 1, 2009)—With an enthusiastic crowd cheering them on, North Forney beat Frisco Heritage in an exciting 5-set match by a count of 25-15, 17-25, 25-23, 25-27, 15-10.

With this win, North Forney improves to 6-11 on the season.

Sparked by the play of Brittny Norris and Shelby Hedrick (Good Serving), the Lady Falcons jumped out to an early lead in Game 1 and never looked back on their way to winning the game by a count of 25-15.

In Game 2, North Forney struggled to find any offensive rhythm and Frisco Heritage took advantage of it as the Lady Coyotes won the game 25-17.

Game 3 was full of many momentum shifts. North Forney built an early lead in the game, but by the middle of the game that lead had disappeared thanks to a strong rally by Frisco Heritage. With the game tied at 18-all, North Forney, behind the strong serving of Sarah Friesen, took a late lead in the game. At this point in the game, the crowd was going nuts and the players were rising to the occasion. In this wild and intense game, North Forney would eventually emerge victorious 25-23 when Brittny Norris pounded down a ferocious kill on game point.

In Game 4, North Forney had their chances to win the match but they were not able to convert them and consequently they lost the game 27-25.

So the match would come down to a 5th and deciding game. In the 5th game, Brittny Norris (Good Serving and Hitting) and Shelby Hedrick (Good Hitting) led the Lady Falcons to victory by a count of 15-10.

Forney (Friday, September 4)—In other North Forney volleyball news, the Lady Falcons fell to the Athens Lady Hornets in 3 games by a count of 25-11, 25-10, 25-13.

With the loss, North Forney falls to 6-12 on the season.

Excellent serving by Kandyce Tull, Daisy Martinez, and Delaney Herrington helped the Lady Hornets take complete control of the match. On this day, Athens was the better team.

On Friday, September 11, North Forney will begin District 12-3A play @ Kaufman. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

North Forney’s first home District 12-3A match will be against Kennedale on Friday, September 18. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p. m.

Tyler—With runners like Josh Taylor, Tommy McIntire, Joseph Doornek, Nick Arnold, and Blake Withrow, the Forney varsity boys cross country team has the talent to be very good in 2009.

On Saturday, September 5, the Rabbit men, who qualified for the State Meet as a team in 2008, showcased their talent in a big way by winning the Tyler Lee Cross Country Classic.

Forney placed 4 runners in the Top Ten to dominate the Meet. The Rabbit runners who finished in the Top Ten were Josh Taylor (1st in a great time of 16:05), Tommy McIntire (3rd in a time of 16:55), Joseph Doornek (4th in a time of 17:05), and Nick Arnold (9th in a time of 17:23).

Other notable performances for the Rabbits were turned in by Blake Withrow (14th place), Jerrod Hughey (25th), and Jamell Lilly (28th)

It also should be noted that Taylor won the race by 29 seconds over the 2nd place finisher from Lufkin Hudson. Watch for Josh to have a great season in 2009. This just in. By virtue of his outstanding performance at the Tyler Lee Meet, Taylor has been chosen as the Dallas Morning News’ Cross Country Runner of the Week. An article about Josh will appear in the Dallas Morning News on Thursday September 10.

Overall, the Forney men finished 1st in the Division 1 race by scoring a fantastic total of 31 points. Some of the schools that they beat at the Meet were Lufkin (2nd– 43 points), Lufkin Hudson (3rd– 68 points), Sulphur Springs (4th– 148 points), and Hallsville (5th– 175 points).

In the JV race, Forney finished 2nd thanks primarily to the efforts of Cody Harris (2nd Place) and Zane Moody (3rd).

Other JV runners who scored points for the Rabbits were Chase Withrow, Cory Harris, and Jake Boudreau.

Next Meet: Saturday, September 12 at Southlake Carroll.

Forney—On Tuesday, August 25, a good Kaufman team beat our Forney Lady Rabbits in 4 games by a count of 25-21,25-14, 15-25, 25-17.

With the win, Kaufman improves to 11-3 on the season while with the loss Forney falls to 5-10.

In Game 1, Kaufman, who is a fundamentally strong team, built an early 12-6 lead before Forney, behind the solid serving of senior Remington Roberts, fought their way back into the game.

With Roberts leading the way, Forney took a brief lead in the game at 13-12. At this point in the game, Forney was hanging right with a talented Kaufman team but in the end some costly errors by Forney helped Kaufman take Game 1 by a count of 25-21.

Kaufman won Game 2 by a count of 25-14.

Then in Game 3, Forney, behind several kills by sophomore Kylie Brown and senior Stephanie Nance, triumphed in the game by a count of 25-15.
In Game 4, Kaufman bolted out to a 10-3 lead. It looked like the Lady Lions would cruise to victory, but Forney mounted one last charge. Led by the play of Remington Roberts (Good Serving), Kylie Brown (Several Kills), Stephanie Nance (Several Kills), and Nicole Briley (Good Serving and Passing), Forney got as close as 10-9 and 18-16 in the game. But the Lady Rabbits’ rally would fall short and Kaufman eventually took the game by a count of 25-17.

Next match: Friday, August 28 vs. Crandall at Forney. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p. m.

The Sportsgram Internet Sports Network and the Fornyey Independent School District have renewed their broadcast agreement for an additional two years.

“We are excited about our continued partnership with the Forney ISD”, said Steve Glenn, Sportsgram Internet Sports Network Partner. “The Forney ISD is an outstanding school district and we look forward to continuing our varsity sports broadcasts for this great community.”
?
Sportsgram will begin coverage this year by broadcasting Forney Jackrabbit football each week of the regular season and on into the playoffs. You can access the games from their website at www.sportsgram.net. Sportsgram will also broadcast other varsity sporting events as well. The most recent broadcasts were the Regional Final softball games this past spring between Forney High School and Poteet.
?
Nate White and Tony “Gonzo” Gonzales are set to return this fall to the broadcast booth for their third year of broadcasting FISD Football. “Tony and Nate do a great job and we are glad they are a part of the Sportsgram team,” Glenn said.
?
Sportsgram has expanded from broadcasting for one school district back in 2005 to having numerous clients as the 2009-2010 season begins. Besides Forney ISD sports, the Sportsgram Network will also be broadcasting for Royce City, Sunnyvale, Red Oak, Lovejoy, Ferris, and the Dallas ISD.
?
Founding Partner Terry Gregory commented, “We are also looking forward to getting North Forney High School varsity sports on the air in the near future!
