Twenty Peaceful Minutes
guest-32df: Over it.
guest-32df: Chest lighter
guest-32df: (Still 42D)
guest-380b: its not the councils job to be involved in that.. its the councils job to judge the job of the city manager... they do not
guest-380b: get paid.. well they do but nominally.. Brian has a very good salary and is paid to negotiate those contracts in a way that
guest-380b: should be easy to explain to the council
guest-380b: and its odd that the top private money spender down town is an engineer and from my understanding not the engineer on the
guest-380b: combining of the buildings.. seems a little off
guest-380b: and yeah i talked to the guy that was going to open the indoor farmers market and thats not hearsay
guest-380b: its not hearsay that opening a business in Forney is ridiculously hard
guest-380b: and to me its not to much to ask that someone with an almost half million a year budget
guest-380b: be able to do a job in which it can easily be explained to the public and not need consultants
guest-380b: and lawyers involved on basic land and renovation deals.
guest-567e: farmers market guy refused to put in a public bathroom. That is why he told me he left. Sorry but thats not too much to ask
guest-4231: if you want edc money, of course there is a "process". otherwise, get your permits and open up. whats so hard about that??
guest-0550: can someone open a full service car wash in forney, please
guest-7707: It's coming, behind Aldi somewhere. I feel same!! I want to get it done here!!! Kudos to Reagan commenting on Armani watts
guest-7707: A hometown kiddo done good!! Gig 'em!!
guest-1c68: Anyone have suddenlink in Forney & what speeds are you getting
guest-380b: if you are a small business selling vegetables... so much money in that yes putting in a 10k bathroom is too much to ask...
guest-9c51: building codes require accessible restrooms for all businesses. if he is renovating its required in any city.
guest-380b: yeah i understand that... but sometimes if you want to get something done you just get it done...
guest-380b: heard the best comparison for our city thus far... to Lewisville.. all the big money goes on the Highway and the Downtown
guest-380b: ends ups a ghost town...
guest-804b: The money to rehab/restore downtown will never make sense
guest-804b: The question is do you want a rehabed downtown
guest-804b: If the money made sense the building owners would have done it years ago
guest-804b: Or outside business developers would have come in and purchased the buildings and done it
guest-804b: To do it and make it work is going to require EDC money and lots of it
guest-804b: Many things will be found in each of these building that could not be forseen
guest-804b: As the decision to rehab these building are being considered it is important
guest-804b: To identify a viable business to go there, one with a proven track record
guest-804b: In old downtown areas, or one with a proven drawing ability
guest-804b: The we can hope as these businesses thrive others will come along
guest-804b: and want to tke on some if not all the rehab of other building downtown
guest-804b: Then maybe just maybe we will have a downtown where people want to come even from outside Forney
guest-804b: We will need additional parking and improved pedestrian street crossing
guest-804b: The payoff is far down the road with increased sales tax
guest-804b: It will not be easy and it will be expensive, time consuming, and require a quality engineering
guest-804b: company to do the investigating of each building and help decide
guest-804b: the best path.
guest-804b: I hope a master plan can be developed for downtown, target the busniesses for downtown
guest-804b: then go after them, Forney should dive this not wait until someone come to us and we get all excited and dive head long
guest-804b: in to it with a fool hearty half baked plan
guest-380b: personally I would love to see a master plan for downtown.. and I have heard some very good ones.. much better than
guest-380b: the original idea of just building a bigger city hall... the one we have is plenty sufficient
guest-380b: the city should be modernizing the meetings so they are online and the citizenry can watch without being there
guest-380b: I heard the idea of the old church being scrapped and making the downtown area a Nice Wedding venue... which actually would
guest-380b: draw people in... and IMO why the hell did the EDC go small with the Fire house.. Zanata is amazing however with basically
guest-380b: a free remodel there was no way to put feelers out there and find something amazing... oh well of course not if you
guest-380b: are just trying to do business favors for long time friends and family
guest-380b: or even new friends and family for that matter...anytime public money like that is given away it should be promoted much much
guest-380b: more and if soI think we could build a place like 804 is talking about
guest-6eff: the most successful small town downtowns in texas are county seats with courthouses and a defined square
guest-3c6b: the rabbits needed 2 pep rallies this week for homecoming?
guest-3c6b: hope there was no city money spent on their "community" pep rally at the Forney Park
guest-a9fd: LOL, that's pathetic.
guest-a9fd: I don't have a clue if city money was spent, but nothing wrong with spending money on an event, by all accounts, ...
guest-a9fd: ...was a big success and well received. Investing in events that build community togetherness is a worthwhile investment
guest-a9fd: if they did spend any money, it was MINIMAL!
guest-07a2: Goooooo Forney!!
guest-6c47: its nice to see money going towards city events.. it would be even nicer to see city management manage the city and not worry
guest-6c47: about being involved in the direction of the city as that is not really the MGMTs job
guest-1c07: How about the park issued I read on the Forney scanner. What is up???
guest-a6bc: City Management is not to be involved in the direction of the City? That's the craziest thing I have ever seen
guest-a6bc: As to the issue at the park, I am sure it wasn't quite the Riot people are insinuating.
guest-4231: Who is up in the next city/school election?
guest-804b: mayor, Stephens, Regin, Parker
guest-4231: Who needs to retire?
