Not sure if anyone has mentioned this...maybe someone could lead us in singing Christmas carols?  I just thought that might be really cool.  Do NOT volunteer me though, I'm the world's worst caroler....seriously.  But I'd be happy to sing along, however off-key it might be ;)

Parents,
As we approach our second round of district play, I want to say how proud I am of all of our girls.  Here are some things we will be doing for others in the next week:
- Selling "Mission: LS2K9" T-shirts during lunches to benefit Laurren Smith in her fight against terminal cancer
- Decorating the Brown MS girls' athletics locker room for their big match (also benefiting Laurren Smith) against Warren
- Attending the Brown/Warren match Thursday at Warren and supporting our little sisses and selling T-shirts for Laurren Smith... We need two parent volunteers (Ms. Worley?  Ms. Pekeku?  Ms. Kimble? Ms. Mitchell?) to transport a group of kids at 5:00 over to Warren...let me know if you are interested and available.

I have attached the newsletter for your entertainment.  Happy Homecoming Week!! As always, thanks for your support!

I really don't want to dash anyones' good intentions...
because this is a wonderful gesture. There will not be any competition for crowds this way...
But; #1) I was wondering WHAT proceeds they would donate as their EXPO was touted as a free to the public event. Maybe they have vendors that sell stuff too - Their vendors are donating ALL proceeds?
#2) This hunting/fishing EXPO relates to 'Christmas' HOW?

Just curious.....
I think it's gonna look like two separate events butt up to each other, and 'staging' will be a nightmare. Lots of competition for electrical outlets for example.......
No worries though.  ^thumbs

Sorry, sorry, SUPER sorry....
I apologize for my moment of negativity...
I could not 'see' the event working together as a whole.... but now that I have seen the Agenda thread - and got the same email, I'm beginning to understand what the FBC part is like, and others, and how it all fits together for the Smith family, and with the community all together. The picture is a little brighter now.

It's beautiful. - "Coming Together For One Cause"

There may be a few small hurdles to cross, but it will work - because it HAS to work.

Is THIS the "wonderful secret" that was alluded to in the SB past?  ;)

I do not attend any church in Forney, so I am just reading websites to gather info....I read about the Expo on their website, and it seems like Sunday was supposed to be a Youth event primarily.  Had FBC already reserved the park for that time?  Maybe Coach was planning this before and plans were just now finalized/publicized? I'm just confused, and would love to hear more about how these two events are related and how FBC is going to help the Smith Family Christmas in October.  Or maybe the name is changing?

Yesitsme, from what I read, the Expo vendors are only on Saturday. Someone can correct me if that's wrong. The website did make it look like there was going to be pizza available, not sure if it was gonna be free or sold.

As a side note, I read about the speaker and while I'm sure he is a great speaker, I don't know that a "kids you should turn your life around for Christ" is the right message for a Christmas event celebrating the Smith family.  From the beginning I was under the impression that this was all about Laurren and her family. Will the speaker's message be different? I know that FBC most likely is paying this speaker (and thus donating him for this event) so I'm not criticizing their choice at all, just curious about how this is going to relate.  If I was to pick a speech topic for the Smith Family Christmas In October event I would probably go for something along the lines of how important family really is, the power of prayer, and of course Laurren's many examples of how attitude is everything. That's just my 2 cents though.

I'm not criticizing anyone or any ideas, I just know that a lot of questions are gonna come up, and I'd like to be prepared with answers.  I'm sure I'm just out of the loop and Coach will be able to clear all this up for me :)

Well let me start by saying that anyone who wants to help The Smith Family is welcomed to join in the Support of this event.  FBC has decided to donate all proceeds to The Smith Family from their event.  Laurren is a youth in Forney and The events that are taking place, that were already scheduled by FBC was all youth events.  This event is about The Smith Family, You don't have to understand everything that might be going on, because its not about us as Individuals, It is about providing an Amazing Christmas for The Smith Family.  Jay Lowder is meeting with the family before the event, and He is very powerful.  If you choose to listen and do with what you will.  I will have my family there to listen support and hopefully deliver the message of Christmas to those who get away from why we are all here, THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE.  I am very impressed that Church's can come together for one Cause.

... but I WANTED to TRY to. (Glad I did - because now I sort of do).

I am very impressed that Church's can come together for one Cause.
....  ???  .... I wasn't aware of this especially. Not that I NEED to be, just saying.

Thanks for your quick reply Coach. I know that the Smith family appreciates all that you are doing to coordinate this event.  Let me know if I can be of further assistance in any way.

Brookshires is going to make copies of the event flyers to put in grocery bags or on the counters I believe. Do we have an updated version of the flyer with the new time?  Just wanted to make sure I gave them the most recent version of the flyer before they made copies.
