New Signs Announcing The Village at Meadow Ridge Farms
« on: November 07, 2008, 10:08:01 PM »
This morning questions appeared on the Forney discussion forum about sign poles that have begun appearing north of Highway 80 near CR-212, on the site of the planned 2.2 million square foot regional shopping center. I've been able to confirm that these poles are for signs that will be installed next week announcing the new bridge (view a video fly-through of the bridge that was posted here on 20PM this past May) and 'The Village at Meadow Ridge Farms', with shops and restaurants opening in Fall of 2010.

20PM is proud to be the first to bring you a glimpse at these signs announcing this exciting new development! Below are the signs that will be appearing over the next week on these poles - sources say these signs will be as large as 40' wide and 20' tall and will announce these exciting new projects to the tens of thousands of people who pass by this intersection every day.

Stay tuned for more news about this development in the coming days!

This was the first I have heard of the name of the shopping complex, at first I thought this was about "The Meadows" in Rockwall ( the section 8 housing they built there) . I hope that others don't name associate it due to the similarity of the names.

I haven't heard of that area of Rockwall, so definitely not a concern for me.

You know that Bridge looks so monstrous ... and I'm aware its gonna be.
We're gonna be known for that Bridge.
No more "6 flags over Forney" - (Relating to the flag pavillion on 688)
Does anyone know another like it around?

If they want the Mall to have a memorable name, maybe they could name it something to do with the Bridge.

The Village ... blech .. of Meadow Ridge Farms ... blech, blech. Didn't even know that acerage HAD a name.

Or is the Mall itself going to be called The Forney Marketplace?
Is their going to be more residential development in that area - thus the "village"?
I'm a bit confused on this.

It is pretty well known in the area.... At least everyone in Rockwall and Heath are very aware of it ..
There was a big controversary over it being built they were concerned about it reducing property values.
The fact that everyone got in an uproar about it being built is my concern for the name association. In Heath "The meadows" = The "hood" lol

The other names in Rockwall that = "The hood" are "Pebblebrook apts", and "Happy Country Homes"...

I'm a bit confused on this.

Endeavor has been marketing their 2.2 million sq ft portion of the project as 'Forney Marketplace'. My understanding is that the land that project is on, as well as the vast bulk of the remaining land around that project, is Meadow Ridge Farms. It sounds like they're going to brand the whole thing as The Village at Meadow Ridge Farms. Endeavor's portion will be near Highway 80, but there's quite a bit of additional land they're going to develop behind it, and if I'm not mistaken, it runs all the way back across Reeder Road and towards 548, which is why they're talking about big projects - i.e., 3 hotels, a minor league ball team, etc.

The bridge will become a new landmark on Highway 80 between Tyler and Dallas - signifying the landmark that Forney itself is becoming. The bridge will dwarf any other bridges in the area - remember that this will be the one bridge in Forney that goes over the railroad tracks, giving citizens a way to get between the north side of town and the south side of town even when the trains are coming through. So it has to stretch all the way across 80 as well as over the train tracks, leaving enough room underneath for the trains to clear.

Just saying, I grew up in the area, and when I saw this post I actually thought it was about the Meadows in Rockwall, which I do not hope that others make the same name association, otherwise it could be bad for business.  The name I have commonly heard it called was "the meadows ghettos" .. just saying that I wouldn;t want that to carry over to here...

Perhaps you are a little too concerned about the possibility of that name association.

Probably, Just like if your not from the area "Pleasant Grove" sounds like a pretty enough name too:D
It works kind of like this.. you hear the name "Ben & Jerrys" well even if it is a Jewelry store you still think of Icecream. For those in Rockwall that fought against having "The Meadows" there it leaves a bad taste in their mouth. I personally could care less what it is called won't stop me from going over there to find out what is there.

There's a lot of new members posting to 20PM for the first time with questions after seeing these signs; if you'll direct them to this thread, I'll post links to the older stories about the mall so they can catch up on all the exciting news!

And WFS, be nice, this is still news to a lot of people who have never visited 20PM before.

The article from May 6th includes a video of the rendering/fly-through of the bridge, so you can see what it'll look like - it's going to be a VERY nice bridge and shopping center.
