I had 20% put on. I think the legal limit is 25% and they said they would pass up to 20% but there was some kind of solar tint in the glass so the meter was reading 15%. I could see fine out of it and when I get pulled over I usually roll the window down before the officer walks up the to car anyways. I just had to pay for two inspections once because it was a new car and two years later I forgot the tint was illegal and the first place I went would not pass unless I scraped the tint off the second said that my windows not being able to roll up (due to the fuse being removed) was not a reason for it to fail inspection and passed it no problem.

If I understand this correctly, you had one staion fail you because the tint was too dark. The second station passed you because they could not in fact check your window tint due to the fact that you could not roll your windows down. I am an auditor of state inspection stations in the Kaufman county area and I will tell you that the second station was WRONG! If they can not roll up a window to check for window tint then the vehicle should FAIL the inspection. You are lucky to have gotten an inspection. If your window tint is less than 20%, it is not legal and you are lucky you got a certificate. Traffic law is 25%, inspection law is 20%. I would let it ride and not advertise it.
