OH.. yea! W is right.. I'm not sure I like it, but it's like you almost HAVE to have that rewards card to make going there worthwhile.

I prefer Brookshire's. The people are nicer and the crowds are smaller. I can get in and out of there quickly too. I don't mind paying the higher prices for the service. I'll go to Walmart for other things, but not during peak hours. I've had some serious anxiety attacks shopping at Walmart on Sunday afternoons! People run into me and don't say excuse me or anything. In fact, they look at me like it's my fault. I just can't deal with that. :(

Oh I know it's not their fault, that's just the reason why I prefer to shop at Brookshire's. :)

It seems to me that Walmart use to be less expensive on alot of things. But here lately I have been finding better deals at Brookshires. Example: my contact lens solution is 13.99 at Brookshires and 16.89 at Walmart now! That is a big difference! I still shop at Walmart but I don't take it for granted that they are going to have better prices anymore. Brookshires meat is much better and they have sales on it as where Walmart does not. I know several people that have worked at Walmart and they all say they were treated like crap! Employees are much friendlier at Brookshires!

The business model at Walmart is to go into a new area and sell most products at a loss; they're big enough to do it.  Local businesses and smaller chains can't compete and close their doors.  Once the competition has gone bye-bye, Walmart jacks their prices back up, and the consumer is stuck.  Walmart also treats their employees poorly.  I'm sure some of them are happy to have the job, but do any of them ever actually look happy?

Compare that to Brookshires, which I think was very smart to remodel.  It's a joy to walk in there; everyone from the manager on down greets you, and they seem genuine in their efforts to be helpful.  Clint, their on-site chef, will even whip up some pico de gallo to your taste preferences.  Now that's service.

I will only go to Walmart now if it's the middle of the night, or I happen to be over in that section for something else.  I'd even rather drive to Rockwall to shop the excellent Krogers there.

One question for Brookshires, though:  why no Haagen-Daaz???

If we didn't have to buy bulk items we'd shop at Brookshire's or Kroger as well.

Hasn't become that much of an issue for me yet, but you're correct.

Isn't that what COSTCO is for, lol?  And alot more fun than WallyWorld as well.  BTW, COSTCO's $1.50 deal at their "food court" for an all-beef hotdog plus soda is really hard to beat!

I hear you on that one, brother.  COSTCO doesn't even carry tomato juice, of which I drink copious amounts.  Multitudes of V8 varieties, but no tomato juice.  Go figure.

Many have stated on here that they like the smaller crowds at Brookshires, but I've been in there when they were somewhat busy and it's difficult at best to get up and down their skinny aisles.  I still don't understand why when they did the overhaul of the store they didn't either make it bigger or just build a new bigger store.
