So i battled with whether to make an anonymous name and post this about the actual restaurant. so i decided just to be general....

I walked into a local eatery in the off hours between 2 and 4 and was the only person there. The girl in the front said hello and that was about it. The two people in the back which were more than just cooks didnt even acknowledge that I was there.

Ok at this point really no big deal... All of this I am used to in Forney, basically business owners that think they are doing you a favor by being open.... I order and have 2.97 in change which I drop every bit of in the tip jar, to this the counter person does not even say thank you...

Working for tips the majority of my working life it is just plain not polite to say thank you especially when someone tips you directly.

All in and all none of these issues would have made me complain and then I was sitting alone in this very small place obviously on my phone. I heard the lady say something but was not paying attention cause i was looking at my phone. I figured out shortly that she was calling my number..... Really you cant walk 5 feet to set down a tray for someone that just not only spent money in your establishment but tipped you as well and is obviously seated and occupied.

RJ, part of the problem is this generation of servers. I've worked food industry almost as long as I've been an IT professional (due to almost always working 2 jobs)

you are 100% right, but at the end of the day this goes back to ownership. thats why families like the Pappas were able to so well. Not only did they provide a good product they actually trained their servers to be attentive. which really is not hard to do with a little watching and coaching.

As far as anonymity, ill keep it, i dont feel it is fair to out an out bash especially local businesses based on one bad visit. hopefully they read the board and may get it was them and think about it or maybe not.

When the day a place in town opens up that actually provides good attentive service and good food consistently they will be here for a while.

Best service in town in my book goes to Chicken Express, but then again it is Chicken Express. Or the Chinese Buffet. Other than drinks It's all on me and I give myself everything I want with a smile.

Gilbert you are definitely right. Chicken Express has been awesome as well has the new Chinese Place.... I really wish Panda Express wasnt coming. Between Hong Kong Express and the Buffet we're good....

Chick-Fil-A has great service as well, since you guys are throwing out Fast Food places. Chicken Express is consistently good with service at all locations, as is Chick-Fil-A. Those two win the customer service awards from fast food by a MILE! (With all apologies to the lovely Miss Connie at the Forney Whataburger.)

I had the same problem with another small business yesterday. The Charming Chick was closed so I decided to go to another nearby shop and check out their selection. I know tons of people seem to love this place and they talk about how wonderful they are, but I have had 2 mediocre/bad experiences there. I have been in there 2 x and both times I was not greeted or asked if I was looking for anything in particular. That bothers me a lot because the girls were not at all busy and seemed to just ignore that I had a pocket full of money that was burning a hole in my pants. I was ready to spend some money and they ignored me and my daughter so we left. I am going to go spend that money at the Charming Chick this afternoon.
I wasn't going to write about this initially, but after all of the recent talk about small businesses I decided to. I know that I am not the only one that has experienced this. I have a small business and we may not have a store front, but I value each and every one of my clients.

Fat Dawgs has always had outstanding service. Bar waitresses are about the only ones who realize the more you hussle the more tips you get.

The first thing you hear when you walk into Fat Dawg's is "Welcome to Fat Dawg's" from about 5 people! I always feel welcome there.

This is an interesting subject. When I go in stores I don't want the workers to bother me. Greeting me is cool, but going on to ask if I need help finding anything...........I just got here, I'd like to look first!!! There are certain ways you can phrase the greeting though that fixes that for me.

Anyway, I'd like to make two points............

1. Customer service is a lost art in most businesses these days. There are still some great ones out there but MOST of them are not.

2. A couple of you have mentioned that blame go back to ownership. While this is a valid point, in some cases you just don't know that you're hiring a bad apple. If you have bad service, or even if it's average and you feel it could be better, I HIGHLY suggest telling the manager and/or the owner. Manager's, and especially owners absolutely want to give the best customer service to anyone and everyone who comes in. But, they don't necessarily see everything that goes on. Make it a point to give feedback, especially if it's a business you love.

My last visit to Fat Dawgs went MUCH better! I went one time and they told me they didnt have dawg bowls anymore (I almost wept I was so sad lol). Then I talked to Cinnamon and she was all... WTF?!?!?! Well... we went not that long ago and not only did they have dawg bowls but several choices!!! It got a
