I don't know any of the parties involved and my oldest is only in 1st grade.   However, this whole "scandal" sounds just like Corporate America and the kids might as well start learning these facts of life early.   People are going to be moved around without explanation, you're going to have to "report to" people you don't like.   But you have a job to do (whether it be as a student or a teacher) and you deal with it and/or move on.

I could be wrong but all of these moves are personnel moves and the district isn't obligated to give us details or reasonings on any of it.  Most likely, it would be unlawful for them to give us any information about it.

Maybe she wanted to leave does anyone know if she did? Maybe she was tired of working with Whiffen...

Haven't read the rest of the thread, but I have heard from her personally that she didn't want to leave.  This was a face to face conversation.

How can we be sure that the school district is not acting in the best interest of the students, staff and parents? The school district might need to do a better job of communicating what prompted the changes.  Also, do you really need to be popular to prepare students for college, which I am not certain the school district is doing well (another topic)?

I would have to respectfully disagree on that one. My son attended FISD from the 4th grade until he graduated as a Junior from FHS. He is going to be a Senior at SMU this fall and was well prepared by FISD. My 3rd and 5th grader have had great teachers every year, not a bad apple yet. I feel very fortunate.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am no big fan of FISD right now in regards to the administration. I still give them props on a lot of stuff they do well. LOL

They didn't even win those seats.  They were the only two who filed for election so they won by default. Where were you when some were trying to get rid of the two longest-serving ones who were just re-elected by default?

Gotta find some viable candidates!  Any volunteers?

School Board meeting is Monday August 2 at 7 PM.

Exactly JG!  All of this b****ing and moaning and then people run un-opposed?  Where is everyone when it is time to step up and VOLUNTEER?  Maybe it's because people don't want to give up that much time just to be second guessed and have their integrity questioned about every decision.  Sounds like youth sports. ;D

Katie, with all due respect to a job well done by your kids, their teachers and you. My view is based on the state report I found for FISD snapshot for 2009 by the following link http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/snapshot/

    -------- COLLEGE ADMISSIONS --------
              (CLASS OF 2008)
31. Percent Tested 60.6
32. Percent At or Above Criterion 20.3
33. SAT - Average Total Score 981
34. ACT - Average Composite Score 21.0

DCCCD SAT and ACT requirements to be exempt from TSI requirements are
ACT: English = 19, Math = 19, Composite = 23
SAT: Verbal = 500, Math = 500, Combined = 1070

True. However, one of those three is now an employee of FISD and cannot run for school board.

For a lot of students yes. There are a number of post on the facebook page that confirm this. There are some that just didn't care at all to finish out school and graduate and she motivated them to do so.

I worked with Kristy years ago at Henderson Elementary. She told me she preferred working with the older kids. She felt the high school age was the perfect age group for her, and she was very happy when she moved up! I have a feeling FISD will lose her over this, which is really sad.

Funny thing is all this talk and 2 people showed up to talk at the board meeting... And if I am not mistaken, it was a mother/daughter couple. They were taken into closed doors and had 5 minutes to talk. And it wasn't even like a whole swarm of people even showed up. MAYBE 5 or 6 folks...

That is standard procedure. Any personnel matters are handled/discussed in closed doors as per state law.
