Covered at all times sounds fair to me, call me crazy but I really can't believe people let their High Schoolers get tattoo'd... back in the day my mom told me "not while you're under my roof" and all I wanted was my ear peirced LOL a tattoo was completely out of the question...

While going to the public library at Forney High School last week (unfortunately just as school was ending) I observed a nose ring, lip piercing, and hoochie pants with panties showing.  Come on Parents!  Do your job!  Stop being your child's best friend.  Stop trying to be the "cool parent".

lol. . . . I will never be the cool parent . . . . I don't have a cool bone in me, trust me I have tried.  Personally I think it is very cool to be practical  ;D

And as far as tattoos go . . . dd has seen some "old" people with tattoos and she thinks that is gross. . .lol . . . I tell her . . they used to be young once and tattoos last FOREVER.

... see - that is my BIGGEST problem w the dress code. Uneven enforcement.
Miss B's kid will get away w their piercings, studded belts, fuzzy boots, etc. and MINE won't.
Maybe it's about keeping a low profile! Lol.

Off topic.. but I also saw a HUGE group walking home from school down 741 towards town during Pep Rally time on Friday.. they WEREN'T supposed to leave campus, even if they didn't care to go to the Pep Rally. I guess they need to find an alternative for those who don't do PEP. I wonder if they were even missed? I bet NOT.

My son has his ars pierced, I guess caause Im the Cool Parent, JK but he has to take them out everyday they will not allow him to wear them, because the coachs do not want Athletes wearing them, but he stated that there is a kid that wears a gauge in his ear, and a gage in his eyebrow, and they are calling that his personality statement.

???  Personality statement. . . why does he get that when others don't.

I'm looking at the District-Wide Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and it specifically says on page 39 Jewelry and Other Accessories

Jewelry used in conjunction with body piercing (such as nose rings or tongue studs are prohibited.

Boys may not wear earrings, makeup or nail polish.

I don't get the personality statement for allowing the piercings. . . . what if a kid wants a personality statement about his/her color of shirt?

SEE!!!! - That's what I'm talkin' about! It's :Picard:

I'm honestly starting to think they are like 'afraid' of some kids or something.

BTW.. it's not that my kid HAS any of these things... but I don't like the double standard.

and back to your original statement JG.. you are RIGHT!
But if Momma got tats, and Momma got a pierce or so, and Momma sometimes wears hoochie pants.. it's kind of hard to tell your kid "don't be like that".. BUT the only thing left and is part of the "job" -  is to teach them WHEN it's appropriate to go w it, and when not. Teach them you sometimes have to follow the rules - even if you don't like them.

i would like to know why the tattoo has become so popular.
how many people regret getting theirs, now that its so main stream you would think it would lose its appeal.

I would like to know how many people have Tattoo "regret" too.
Like I was saying to someone.. NOW is the time to buy stock, or invest in tatt removal products and methods.

But as far as the popularity.. it became a 'fad' somewhere along the way.
and for some, it is just an appreciation of 'body art' - which I think it sometimes is.
SOMETIMES. Sometimes the chosen designs are just plain ugly or stupid looking.

I don't have one.

It's also for a certain 'image' I know the bandmembers of the ones that Sonny listens too almost ALL have full or nearly full 'sleeves'.
Also for a lot .. they have great meaning for them - like a memorial they can carry around on them forever, or a souvenier - like all the ones gotten 'in the service' for example, or ones that honor a family member.

I thought what you said.. once main stream should have lost it's appeal - but that is the time when it became 'fad'. It really really doesn't mean rebellious, rogue, or renegade anymore.
