Crosswalk on FM548 to Community Park

How does one petition the government (not sure if this is city, county, or state) to get a crosswalk installed on FM548 from Fox Hollow to the Community Park?  The speed limit is too high for me to comfortably let the kids go there by themselves.

You would have to get TXDot on board.  They control 548, so any under/over pass, which is what you are talking about, would have to be approved by them. 

There is a guy down in Kerrville area that learned this lesson the hard way many years ago.  The as still unfinished bridge is an eyesore.

If you look through the budget for the City of Forney (the last several pages I believe) it lists things that are being planned for for the next 5 years I think. I remember seeing something about a overpass or underpass listed in there.

Not sure if it was indeed for the park or for 548 now. I wouldn't even THINK about crossing 548 as it is now...and if I were an officer I would fear for my life pulling out from there in an emergency! Surely at some point in the near future they will put some traffic control devices in that area.

For now I would be happy with paint on the road and a flashing sign. I understand that an overpass was discussed, at some level, and it would be very expensive, so a crosswalk painted with a flashing sign would be an improvement.

A no-brainer would be to reduce the speed limit WAY DOWN.   We have some speed demons (young and old) who like to race their motor and fly by the park as fast as they can go.  If you happen to be on Field #1 at the softball complex, it sounds like a dragstrip right there.  I don't think the Police Dept. being there now is deterring this activity.
