HS Student Passes Away
« on: April 13, 2008, 02:22:25 pm »
Funeral is Wednesday, April 16th at 1:30PM at First Baptist Sunnyvale

and like said below the HS will be releasing at 12:30

-----------

Chyna Zmolik, a JR at FHS passed away this past weekend. I know she went in for heart surgery last week and ended up in a coma. I don't know if something went seriously wrong or there was a risk with the surgery.

There is a memorial for her tonight(sunday) at 6 at the FHS auditorium

keep her and her family in yours prayers. I know she has 2 brothers that are in HS too.

I found out on Saturday when I was talking with my neighbor. Their daughter was on the phone with a friend getting the bad news. She was in complete shock because she knew the girl and had just seen her at school. That is just incredibly sad and my prayers go out to that family!

We found out Saturday night. My son's girlfriend got the news when she was over at my house. She was devastated as they were good friends. It is so terribly sad. My heart goes out to the Zmolik family.

This is a very sad occasion but our administration has stepped up with compassion and caring. There is a letter going home this afternoon with all high school students (I picked one of mine up early today) that reads:
Dear Parents,
As many of you know, Forney High School students and staff have suffered a great loss with the unexpected death of Chynna Zmolik. There are many students who wish to honor her memory by attending her funeral. Our superintendent, Dr. Darrell Brown, has graciously given us permission to dismiss Forney High School on Wednesday, April 16th at 12:30 so that those students and faculty members who wish to attend the funeral may do so. All other campuses in the district will remain on the normal school-day schedule. On this day, students who will be attending the funeral will be allowed to wear their funeral attire to school. A sack lunch will be provided for all students on that day, and we ask that you please tell your child to tell their 3rd period teacher tomorrow if they want a sack lunch given to them on Wednesday, or if they are choosing to eat lunch after they are dismissed. The buses will be at the school at 12:30 to take the bus rider students home. If your child is normally "parent pick-up" he/she will need to make arrangements to be picked up from school at 12:30. It is imperative that your child be picked up on time because the school will not be open after 12:30 as most of the faculty and staff will be attending the funeral. The burial service being held for the students to attend will be Wednesday, April 16th at 1:30 pm at Devine Mercy in Mesquite. Directions to the service are on the back of this letter. If you have any questions, please feel free to call any of us at the school at 972-564-3890.
Sincerely,
Forney High School Administration

It is signed by all the principals and the directions on the back include the Google maps.

I think that deserves  ^thumbs

Thanks for posting the info from the letter from FISD, RelaxedPuppy, I've posted that, plus the obituary that was emailed to me, to the blog. Here's what I posted...

The entire Forney community is mourning the sudden loss of Chynna Zmolik, a junior at Forney High School; on Sunday evening, a community gathering to celebrate her life filled the auditorium at Forney High School as friends, loved ones and school administrators shared stories and remembrances of Chynna.

Forney High School continues to honor Chynna's memory today, as the administrators at FHS have announced that FISD superintendent Dr. Darrell Brown has given FHS permission to dismiss all classes at FHS at 12:30PM on Wednesday so that students and faculty members who wish to attend Chynna's funeral may do so. In addition, students who plan to attend the funeral will be allowed to wear their funeral attire to school, instead of their standard school uniform. Finally, a sack lunch will be provided for all students on Wednesday to ensure they have an opportunity to make it to the funeral after school is dismissed. Parents of students at Forney High School should reference the letter the school sent home with all FHS students today for more information and details.

Chynna's obituary, including information about the memorial service, appear below. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Chynna to the SPCA (visit SPCA.org to make a donation, or go straight to the SPCA of Texas donation page).

Community members have been expressing their support for the Zmolik family and sense of sorrow over Chynna's passing in the Forney discussion forum ever since a fellow FHS student posted the news of Chynna's passing, and are encouraged to continue sharing thoughts and memories of Chynna.

Chynna's obituary and information about the memorial service this Wednesday are reprinted below. My prayers go out to the friends and family of Chynna; I cannot imagine what they are going through right now, but I hope that they know the entire Forney community is here to love and support them during this difficult time.

Chynna Zmolik

Born May 3, 1991 in Mesquite, Texas, passed away April 12, 2008.

Chynna was a beloved daughter, a caring sister, and a dear friend to all who knew her. We will miss her constant smile and her laugh which brought joy to everyone around her, but we take great comfort in knowing that Heaven has a beautiful new angel.

Chynna was a two year member of the Forney Highsteppers and the 08-09 varsity mascot for the Forney Jackrabbits.

She is survived by her parents, Dina Moon and Michael Zmolik, step-parents Penney Zmolik and Kevin Moon, siblings, Dillan Zmolik, Daniel Zmolik, Peyton Arnold, Carter Moon, and Lauren Arnold, all of Forney,Texas. Also survived by Grandparents, Jodie & Doris Zmolik of Mesquite and Marsha James of Forney, Ted Stilwell from Seagoville, Texas and numerous aunts and uncles and over 30 first cousins.

In lieu of flowers Chynna's spirit of compassion will continue through your donations to the SPCA. Go to www.SPCA.org.

And finally, the passing of our precious Chynna has given the gift of life to others through the donation of her organs.

Services will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2008. At 10:00 AM on Wednesday there will be a Catholic Mass for family at Divine Mercy of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1585 E. Cartwright, Mesquite, TX 75181 and at 1:30 PM there will be a public memorial at the Sunnyvale First Baptist Church, 3018 N. Belt Line Road, Sunnyvale, Texas 75182.

View the memorial picture board here.

Someone pointed out that the letter from the school says the service at 1:30PM is at Divine Mercy on Cartwright this Wednesday, but the obituary information says it's at FBC Sunnyvale on Belt Line. I've sent an email to a couple of people close to the family who might be able to clarify this, but in the meantime, if anyone knows which it is and can shed some light on this, feel free to post.

Update: I've received a couple of emails confirming that the 1:30PM service will be at First Baptist Sunnyvale, on Belt Line Road in Sunnyvale, not at Divine Mercy.

There is a Catholic mass at 10am at Divine Mercy for family.  Then there will be a service at Sunnyvale Baptist at 1:30 for friends.  It is my understanding that she will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetary following the final service.

I happened to be at the high school today when they started handing out the papers and then they came over the PA and announced the changes.

For those of you who are Catholic and want to attend, there will be saynig of the Rosary at 7:00 pm tomorrow night at St Martin's Catholic Churhc in Talty.

Chynna was a great person, she made everyone around her smile and laugh. the day before she went into surgery, she was talking to her dad and said, "hey dad theres this bass fishing tournement, when i'm better we're gonna go." but she didnt get to make it to that shjust beat us all and we will see her sooner than we all think. allthough this is a difficult time, its better this way. she's watching over us and heaven has a wonderful new angel. she wouldn't want us to be crying over her like this, so just keep her memory alive and keep her family in your prayers! *JOY AND LOVE MADE IN CHYNNA*
