I noticed on the post that the Forney Longhorns will be selling BBQ at the 4th Celebration at the Community Park.  Some of the youth sports leagues in Forney were told that no one could sell anything or have a booth at the event except for the City.  Just wondering.......

I think TVYSA has a sign up booth at the park on this day, too. Maybe they changed their minds? I have learned that nothing is fair when it comes to youth sports in Forney. You are either in with the "in" crowd or you are out. That simple.

It would be if I was talking about one organization or even one particular sport, but I am not. I am making a generalization based on my experiences in several sports and others that I know.

This flyer says that concession proceeds will benefit the Forney Soccer Association

Why is only one or two youth sport organizations getting to make money off the event, assuming that JG heard correctly . . . . it does not sound fair to me.

I know I shouldn't . . . but I'm going to

If JG has her facts correct . . . . . . this reminds me of the Christmas boothes situation.

Taxes should be used for NEEDS not wants.  You WANT something extra/special pay for it yourself, don't share the burden with other homeowners.  Why should people's taxes be so high and unaffordable?

Baseball asked to do a booth (we wanted to sell snocones, etc.) and we were told that they decided no one could have a booth.....we emailed today and asked about the ad and they said the ad was wrong.  I hope the Longhorns didn't go out and buy a bunch of meat that they won't be able to sell!

Did you ask them about the concession proceeds benefiting the Forney Soccer Association?  That flyer was on the City's website.

yes they told us soccer would be the only sport selling concessions - as that is their concession stand.  The city is supposed to have another stand, so there should only be those 2.  Oh well.....maybe next year.

I'm not picking on the Longhorns by any means.  Just wondering if they were given permission to sell BBQ or if they just assumed they could sell BBQ.  I just hope they don't get stuck with a bunch of meat and won't be able to sell it.

What I don't get is why the organizer of this event would not want more than one or two food boothes

I wonder if it has to do with health permits. . . . . I know that when our church wanted to sell food items at Upwards they had to get a permit from the City of Mesquite.

At the last Parks Board meeting, it was discussed and left open to the youth sports organizations if they wanted to sell. No favoritism or anything was shown. All the youth sports groups present were given the "green light" to do concessions as fundraisers, with the main stipulation being they worked together so as not to sell the same items if possible.
