1. He could be a bouncer. Better then growling in songs that are completely pointless and that no one can understand and only listen to because the drummer is really good.

2. How so? Cookie monster is one thing, screamo is another. Here i'll use wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_growl
"A death growl, also known as death metal vocals, guttural vocals, death grunts, harsh vocals, unclean vocals,[1] among other names, is a vocalisation style usually employed by vocalists of the death metal music genre, but also used in a variety of heavy metal and hardcore punk subgenres.[2]

The style is sometimes referred to as "Cookie Monster vocals", tongue-in-cheek, because of the similarity with the popular Sesame Street character of the same name. Death growls are sometimes criticised for their "ugliness" [3]. However, death growls are just as much an aesthetic to death metal as an instrument, particularly due to the percussive nature of this kind of singing; its harsh, brutal nature is in keeping with death metal's often dark and disturbing subject matter.[3]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screamo
Screamo is a genre of music which predominantly evolved from hardcore punk, among other genres, in the early 1990s. The term "screamo" was initially applied to a more aggressive offshoot of emo

:lmao: Only a fool would even remotely relate emo to death metal.  Surely, assuming you even know what emo is (and not based on a wikipedia definition), you can grasp how completely different they are.  You may find it pointless but many love it, including myself.  What I find pointless is listening to some overly happy lack of talent try to tell me that everything in life is grande because God is in my life.  What a waste of airwaves that crap is.  ::)

I never compared the two. Yesitsme said "Yea.... "Cookie Monster" - I've heard that said about it before. It's called "Screaming" or "Screamo""

I said "Cookie monster is old men like in video below. Screamo is the young punk screaming." That was the insulting way to say what I put from the wikipedia sources. I never said they were the same. I think we're on the same page here.

so what I don't understand is...you getting so "up in arms" because you think he slammed your favorite genre, but yet you slammed his choice as being talentless.

There's no talent in tuning your guitar to D...palm muting open chords as fast as possible.  I've got a 12 year old that can do that.  And don't get me wrong, I love metal but it doesn't take a ton of talent to play it.  All you're doing is playing fast.  There's nothing complex about it.

Not trying to stir the pot just an observation.

1.  Your view of metal as being "just playing fast" shows your ignorance. :sad6:

2.  Once you read my next post you'll know why I've said what I have. ;)

I've got a little secret for you.  Not only have I never heard one song from Anberlin, I had never even heard of them before you posted them.  I just wanted to rile you up. :lmao:  It's been fun being on the other side of the coin for once!  Anberlin very well be a god band.  I will admit though, I generally CANNOT get into the happy, as long as God is in your life everything is OK, happy and positive message sending Christian music.  Nine times out of ten the music is just bad and honestly, the lyrics are annoying and stick to one theme.  That said, I'm actually going to look up some songs on the CD you mentioned. :)

Ok... first of all, anyone here who is gonna discuss Death Metal, you have GOT to read this;
http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Death_metal
Very relative, useful .. (and hilarious).

Second.. My bad. I DID say that that Death Growl was called Screaming - or Screamo.
This was from the source of my metal teenage Son... who has just thereby proven to me that contrary to what he would like me to believe, he MAY NOT know everything - even about The Metal. Hahah.
BUT, I DID NOT mean to say that Metal is in any way related to Emo. I didn't say that.
Sonny is NOW trying to tell me that there are even different 'styles' or types of Growling.. one of which is called "Bree-ing" which I would think he made up the name of, but I saw it on YouTube! LOL. He still maintains that some of those Growlings are in fact called 'Screaming'. (Maybe not 'ScreamO' then). Sometimes it's called 'Exhale Screaming' and sometimes 'Inhale screaming'... it's all to get the same 'Cookie Monster' effect.
There ARE similarities in those Wiki def's BTW, .. they're both talking about  "hardcore punk subgenres, and agressive off-shoot of emo.. "
Whatever.
I still like some of it whatever you wanna call it, and people DO understand it.
And Sonny wants me to tell ALL of you to STFU about it. LOL!

I didn't say it was that type of band. I said it's a band of christians who sing about positive stuff and not about doing drugs and how much life sucks and how they want to commit suicide.

Eh it killed a few hours for me. It was fun I like debating with someone who knows what they are talking about and just aren't completely obsessed and pathetic.

LOL!!  Now not all metal songs are about the subjects you speak of.  In fact, not many are.  I'll check out the two you posted. :)

Mojo Nixon let all his recordings go for free on mp3 format last year, which I promptly downloaded, and on one of his albums, Whiskey Rebellion, WFShaun's avatar is called out in track 8.
