DH just drove by there.  He said that there is some damage, just couldn't tell what the extent of that damage was.

When we drove by the gun store looked pretty bad, but Fox 4 said they kept the fire from reaching any ammunition.

Which is really good!!  One of the guys has black powder for reloading stored there - so the damage could have been a lot worse.

All the ammunition cooked off, black powder is gone, guns melted...total loss.

ATF is taking over the investigation.

The FD estimated the internal temp to be 1300F as it melted the top lock on the big gun safe.

I had a dumb*** friend throw some .22 rounds in a campfire back in the day. They just exploded since there was no back pressure to project the slug forward. So the FD may have heard the rounds exploding but I doubt they were dodging bullets. But I'm sure it still scared them. I know I was running when my friend pulled the campfire stunt.

I had some friends do this to our campfire once, the shells fly off sometimes, but usually its just a popping noise you hear. The slugs don't go anywhere since the out-weigh the shells. Fun times at Boy Scout camp...
