my son\'s new company
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:33:49 AM »
My son (FHS graduate, class of 2006) has been living in Los Angeles for nearly 2 years, & his dream is close to coming true!!
He & another graduate from his class have been developing this company & they will soon launch it to the public.
Currently, they are trying to get people signed up.
Please click on the link below and enter your email address.

He has explained it to me hundreds of times (I have been his focus group for several categories: old people, technologically challenged, iphone user, ipad user and just plain clueless). My friends who understand are very excited... hopefully, you will be too!

Thanks!
A PROUD MOM! ;D

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble or anything.  I HIGHLY recommend anyone who has enough balls to start their own business and I hope he succeeds in every way.  However, even though you, a regular on the site has suggested the site, before you find out ANYTHING about the site you must give them your email address.  I get enough crap sent to my email addresses as it is so to myself, and definitely the casual user, I think most people will pass right on by the site before finding out what it's all about.  I suggest that you suggest to him that more information about the site/company be given on the opening page before requiring an email address be given. :)

Hi Shaun,

I understand your point about asking for emails, but our legal team has to approve anything that we put out on our site as publicly available information. My first business I launched was an organic yogurt company that is still distributed in Central Market and Whole Foods today. I promise we are not going to spam anyone, just notify people interested in streaming music when we are ready to accept Beta testers.

We are still in a stealth mode developing our Alpha build and do not have a lot of information publicly available yet as it is mostly proprietary information regarding our software architecture. We are taking on companies like Netflix, Spotify, and Apple, because we believe we can build a better mousetrap. Below is some information on my team and our progress. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to give me a call at (323) 210-3444 or email me at erik@stormcloudmusic.com, I'd love to hear any feedback.

Storm Cloud Music is a premium audiophile streaming service based off of emerging web technologies such as cloud servers and HTML5.

Storm Cloud Music's software architecture is developed by engineers from IBM, Google, and Electronic Arts. They have created software that runs sites such as YouTube, Vevo, the Starbucks Giftcard redemption systems, and the Food Network.

We are advised by a 30 year music industry veteran, Grammy winning record producer Jeff Weber. Our music licensing is handled by Jay Cooper of Greenberg Traurig. Jay has been practicing music law since 1951 and sits on the board of Sound Exchange. We are also working with members of Stanford University's CCRMA group to build a proprietary audio codec that was designed with input from several Grammy and Emmy winning audio engineers who have worked with everyone from Van Halen to Katy Perry to George Lucas.

Storm Cloud Music is partnered with IBM and Amazon Web Services. Through these partnerships, we are developing a music delivery system that can handle large quantities of high quality audio files and quickly stream them with little latency using our patent pending processes.

Storm Cloud Music is currently in talks with an audio DSP chip maker from South Korea that builds circuit boards for companies such as Toshiba, LG, and Sony to develop audiophile streaming software that they can integrate with next generation hardware.

Storm Cloud Music is currently bootstrapped, but we have personal introductions lined up with angels such as Andrew McCollum (Facebook), Mark Cuban (broadcast.com, HD Net), Nolan Bushnell (Atari), Tim Vanderhook (Myspace, Specific Media), and Sreedhar Natarajan (Emerging Memory Technologies).

I did see your point in a way WFShaun.. BUT - it's audiophile streaming music - in a cloud. I was IN! I submitted my email the minute I saw catlady's post.

I guess I might be in the beta... Coolio!

I already do Cloud music on Amazon.. so another reason I was ok w it.

o.. and congratulations catlady on your son's emerging success. (I believe it will be). Every right to be proud!
(heh - he could have put me in the majority of those focus groups)

I understand.  I actually thought you may have been further along in offering it to the public actually.  That's why I thought asking for an email with little explanation on your site would steer most potential users away.  It all sounds awesome though!  I currently use Spotify so Storm Cloud is definitely something I find interesting.  Good luck with it all! 8)

PS, what's the name of the yogurt?

That is awesome for your son. I hope he makes a million bucks (or many millions, LOL). There is nothing better than seeing a new entrepreneur go out and take a risk and start a business. This country has become full of too many people dependent on others, and even worse - the government, for their own survival. By branching out and starting his own business...not only is the sky the limit for his success, he won't have to worry about ever getting fired from a job or depending on someone else to provide him with a paycheck.

Thanks, we are all very excited.
In the meantime, be sure and try Three Happy Cows yogurt. It really is good and I don't typically like yogurt.
