According to a Star Telegram article, Fresh Lane Drive-Thru Grocery, which recently opened in Saginaw and has locations opening in Keller and Lewisville this fall, is scouting for a location to open at in Forney. Fresh Lane is a 900-square-foot grocery store that operates on a completely drive-thru basis; customers are not allowed inside the store, and instead purchase everything via a drive-thru window. The stores, which are usually under 1,000 square feet, stock about 400 different items.

While it sounds pretty revolutionary, it turns out Fresh Lane Grocery is based on a type of store that has been open for about fifty years in Florida. Fresh Lane will stock the 400 most-frequently-purchased grocery store items in one or two sizes and usually just one brand. The Star Telegram article says that they're scouting locations in 12 different cities, including Forney, and hope to have 50 stores across D/FW within three years. Considering that they built their first store for $250,000 and hope to build the next two for $150,000 each, it might actually happen.

The list of cities they're currently scouting is exciting - "Fort Worth, Haltom City, Euless, Southlake, Frisco, The Colony, Plano, Keller, Forney, Trophy Club, Allen and Dallas" - we've all heard the Forney/Frisco comparisons, but it's really nice to see Forney in a list of cities along with Southlake, Frisco, The Colony, Plano, Trophy Club, etc.

Fresh Lane's website has a place to suggest a new store location - drop by and let them know where you think they should build in Forney!

This seems like a neat little business...but I would much rather just have a nice grocery store like a Krogers or Randalls/Tom Thumb. A nice old fashion butcher shop would be cool too that has quality meats.

I think this will just be a headache. I like having choices in brands and prices so I would not go here. I would like a nice grocery store like a Krogers Signature or something like that, I don't want to waste space on a drive thru grocery store.

Hmm...I'll suggest Forney, but if I'm being totally honest...I wouldn't go there.  I tend to go to Rockwall to go to Kroger because they have Starbucks inside.  I can leave the child home with her Daddy, get a Java Chip and really go slowly...comparing prices, checking labels, etc. to maximize my alone time.

A drive-through grocery store just isn't going to allow that.  :P

OBOYOBOYOBOYOBOY!!!

Man, I wish I had a dollar for every time we've had to stop on the way home from work for something like milk, ice or bread --- this place will be an evening saver!

I sure hope they decide to build here!

If they would add the ability to submit an order online, I might be a little tempted to be excited about it.  I could submit my order online and then come pick it up in 20 or 30 minutes or at some other time.

I would LOVE to see a true butcher shop open up out here.  That is something I would definitely frequent.

I have no interest in a Kroger's/Randall's/Tom Thumb.  While I am not the biggest Wal-Mart fan in the world, there is little I need that they don't have in terms of regular grocery.  Those other places are soooo much more expensive for the average item.  You just gotta find the right time to go to Wally World.  Now, if you are talking about something like a Whole Foods, then that is another story all together.

I would LOVE to see a Whole Foods, Central Market or Sprouts come here... But there's another chain that I think would attract people from all over the Dallas area to come here.  There are no Trader Joes locations in Texas at all.  I'd love it if we could convince Trader Joes to come here.

While the idea has merit.. It is not a store I would patron. I am a grocery store guru. I go armed and dangerous.  I am the woman in front of you with a fist full of coupons

We do live in the age of instant gratification. I still like the conventional way of shopping. I like to see what I am buying first.

I've thought about this as well.  With some things, it's important.  But I'm sure you'll be able to specify a brand name, for milk or bread for example.  And when I think about how tired we are when we get home from work --- aaaahh --- it would be so nice!
