Hello 20PM and thank you for such a wonderful site!

Metro East Softball Association (MESA) is the youth softball organization here in Forney providing our families with a premier softball organization for league and tournament games for our daughters. We are currently undergoing a transition to new management and board and we'd like you to be involved! We are holding a meeting this coming Tuesday to elect new board members (volunteer position) to help in deciding MESA's future and working various areas of the programs. If you are interested in being on the board we welcome you to contact us and come to the meeting on Tuesday. More details will come later if you'd like to volunteer for smaller items and we are always looking for coaches!!!

Have a wonderful day and thank you again for your support!

Tuesday Sept. 9th @ 7pm
Location: United Methodist Church on Broad st.
(This is just past the Dollar General and Day Care heading West from downtown)

mesasoftball@yahoo.com

More information will be posted later regarding the changes with MESA and more information for the spring season to come!

Can you post a list of Board Positions?  I think alot of us would like to volunteer, but want to come to the meeting with a little bit of preparation on what positions we would be interested in.

Currently this is the board list (with the new positions being filled on Tuesday):

President - filled
Vice President - filled
Secretary - filled
Tournament Director - filled
T-ball Commissioner - open
8U Commissioner - open
10U Commissioner - open
12U Commissioner - open
14U Commissioner - open
Concessions Manager - open (although another board member is eligible to take this if needed)

There are many more positions we will need filled and the more volunteers the better. Other items will include but not limited to; consessions, public relations, advertising, janitorial, printing, website design - (filled), COACHES!!! and much more. Once the new board members are elected, we will set the new monthly meeting date/time to discuss many of these positions and put our volunteers to use as much as we can! There will be many more things offered later such as stat/scoreboard keepers and more that will also be discussed and addressed. We will be glad to take any volunteer help no matter the commitment level, we are extremely excited about the upcoming changes and the new softball complex being built by our city! I encourage everyone to get involved whether you have a daughter involved with softball or just enjoy helping our community!

Please feel free to email us at mesasoftball@yahoo.com or PM me here on 20PM and we'll be glad to get back to you as quickly as possible.

I may or may not be able to attend .. I plan to.

However, whether I am there or not - you can be assured that the MFUA will continue to supply trained ASA umpires for MESA (or whatever the name ultimately is!) games. That you do not need to be concerned about.

I'm not an official MESA person, but I know that some of the teams have left Forney to play in Mesquite.  A new board of directors will be working overtime this winter to get our girls back in Forney and to make OUR league the best it can be.

Mamagail, is there any way you can attend the MESA Board Meeting tomorrow night?  We need you!

Mamagail, there currently is only one 10U team signed up for fall ball. Some of the teams have left to go to Mesquite or other leagues/programs and some have dissappeared simply because of other sports programs in the fall. Forney has always been a strong football oriented town in the fall, and many of our young girls join cheerleading, drill, soccer, and more during the fall rather than play softball. Team/individual participation during the fall is and always will be much less than the spring season due to this nature, but unfortunately we have lost many teams/players for other reasons as of late.

Gina's invitation is excellent and I encourage you also to become involved and if you can come tomorrow night to our board meeting it would be incredibly helpful! We have a new president coming on board who is absolutely determined to turn MESA around and build a strong program for our youth girls. We need more parents to get involved and volunteer in any way they can to make this happen and we appreciate all the support we are getting!

Feel free to PM me here on this board or you may email MESA for any questions at mesasoftball@yahoo.com
