CONGRATULATIONS BURN!!!! ^clap ^clap ^clap

I hope that you can find feeding tubes and bottles that help until he can have surgery, I know that can be rough, and if using tubes, you will need quite a few of them because they are so hard to clean, and keep sanitary. I am glad he was such a  good weight! He weighed alot more than I did. That is awesome! I am soi excited for your family!

Taxes should be used for NEEDS not wants.  You WANT something extra/special pay for it yourself, don't share the burden with other homeowners.  Why should people's taxes be so high and unaffordable?

Thanks folks.

Been a busy couple of days.   Mommy was discharged today, but they are hanging on to the little guy in the NICU for at least a week or two.  Seems there were some problems with him silently aspirating.  In a nutshell, that means that he was getting fluid in his lungs when trying to feed.

A few tests and pokes and prods later, they decided to thicken up his feeding and bring in the ear, nose, and throat doctor on Monday to analyze another symptom (stridor) that he has developed.  That can be caused my a ton of different things, but we are hoping that it was just a side effect of the aspirations irritating his esophagus.

I don't have to tell any of you parents how tough it was for her to come home and have him still up there in the NICU.  Especially with the uncertainty of his prognosis... and what road lies ahead.  But I remind myself that although difficult, this is not a life-threatening condition.  He is well taken care of and we just have to take it as it comes. We are truly blessed to be able to sort it out and get the little guy started.

I am just excited and eager to get him home.

Until then, we will just be up there as much as possible.  Here is a pic of he and I...

...I'm the haggard one with the beard.

Poor little guy... I'm sure the stridor IS caused by the aspirations. (Doctorme)
I guess it IS reassuring to know he is in good hands.
Are you comfortable saying what Hospital?
I'm sure your wife is just a little relieved to take a little break from that place though.
She can get well rested at home a bit - and more ready to take on the next chapter.

Wow.  Been a while, but I have a few pics of the little guy.

First off, he is doing GREAT!  We only had to have the tube in for a couple of weeks before he started taking to the bottle.  My wife put in MANY hours of feeding with him to get the right technique and make sure that he gets everything that he needs.

Now, it is still a little tricky (trickier for me.,.. the wife has become a pro), but he is taking about 4 ounces ever 2.5 hours and actually sleeping better through the night.

Surgery for his lip will be done at the end of the month, so that will probably help him for a better suction on the bottle.  The palate will be taken care of at a year.

Just wanted to update you folks and let you know that all is well.  For any of you that are my FaceBook friends, you have seen these and more, but for those of you that are not, here is the little guy!

What a healthy beautiful boy!   They grow so fast.  I thought he would still be a little bitty thing.  I hope that all goes well with the surgery.  We will be praying for the Morris family.
