We have used VIP since they opened their doors, and the last few times we have taken our clothes in the XXTra Heavy Starch was light and the creases are wrong..  Very Irritating..

Let me add in my 2 cents for Forney Cleaners on the South Side of 80.  They aren't the cheapest, but they are who I use.  They are very friendly, give a discount to LEO's and Teachers, give a discount for paying when you drop off, etc.  I also posted recently about signs they put up in the parking lot telling you to call in if you need help and they will come out to the car and pick up your cleaning.  While I will never use it, this would be a great thing for the elderly, new/expectant moms, someone with a temp injury, etc.  There is no fee of course and is just an awesome customer service thing to do.

I second Gonzo.  Forney Cleaners is an awesome (and well-run, and professional) business, especially for those of us south of 80...lol!

I'm so glad you on the south side of 80 are getting your own gas station so you & your opinions can stay off of my side.  ;D

Don't worry, Willie.  I will still come to your side of town to go to the Movies, get my wife some FiveBucks, get some Wings, etc.  I don't mind to go slumming occasionally.

And folks, I know Matt Long personally.  If his store was on the other side of 80, I would give him all my business.  Matt is a good guy and a guy who really cares about his customers and his business.  If Matt says he wants to make good on something, he will.  I can promise you that.

I don't know Matt but I'm glad that he was willing to get on here and make the public apology and request the OP to call him so he can apologize personally. I have not used VIP in the past but because of his response I will give him a try.

As a business owner I have adopted the following as one of my business principles:
"If I or one of my employees make a mistake is not the issue. The real issue is how we respond when we make a mistake."

It sounds like Matt is willing to respond appropriately to the mistake by taking the most important step. Accepting responsibility.

I used them since they first opened up.  I took a jacket to be dry cleaned. There was a milk spot on the lapel which I pointed out and was not happy with the spot that was still on the lapel when I picked it up. They sent it back to be redone and when i picked it up again it still looked like it had not been cleaned. The owner ressponded that I had only paid for the dry cleaning service.  I took it there to have it cleaned and only paid for the service not for the cleaning!!! Needless to say I don't go there anymore. They seemed very nice until there was a problem.

It's great that Matt is trying to make good after the his wife's poor display of customer service... but how about an apology from the person that committed the offense... i mean it sounds like this is a family run business, so how did he 'take care' of the issue? Send his wife home? Dock her pay?

If that had happen to me, you better believe that I'd be taking my money ($50 / week) elsewhere and telling everyone why they should be doing the same.

For those of you that believe there are two sides to this story... you are all wrong because the customer is always right! If you don't believe me, then ask Mustang or Forney Cleaners.

For the record, we don't take our clothes to the cleaners because we have one of those new steam dryers and my wife loves doing laundry. There are no pesky 'in by 9:00' policies... she just asks that I keep them off the bathroom floor. :)

You're right gjackson, after all that is not a person behind that counter, she is a robot...please! How can you not see that anyone can have a bad day or even a bad moment?
I've been waiting on customers for 30 years and there have been lots of times when I regret acting out in anger when the pressure is on.
I do understand that I may lose the customer, and that hurts, no doubt, but is there no room for grace in your world? Have you never done something you regret and wish you could be forgiven? Must be great, is all I can say.

NO!!! The customer is not always right. True, a company should always do everything within the limits of common sense to accomodate a customer but the customer is not always right. Besides, the issue that was posted here isn't about whether the customer was entitled to the same day service or not. The OP actually stated that she would have understood if it couldn't be the same day. Her issue was the way the employee spoke to her. Once we get into the issue of he said/she said then there are two sides to the story. And as others have said, people do have bad days and sometimes their frustration overflows. Having said that, I believe it is appropriate for Matt to apologize since he is the owner. The buck stops with him and he is accountable for all his employees, including his wife. It doesn't matter how he handled the issue with the employee, what matters is that he is taking responsibility.

Well i have been a customer at vip cleaners for about a year now.. and i must say they are very, very friendly most of the time.. but i can understand when they arent always gigving me a smile or wish me a good day, people have bad days their human just like us!! And sometimes my clothes arent the way i asked for them for example the heavy strach wasnt heavy enough but i brought it back up there and they redid it for free, and they said they will keep sending it till its the way i like it! And when i got it back it was perfect and my husband was satistified. And i will continue to go there cause they do make up for there mistakes or at least TRY.. Just like matt is trying to make things right.. and not a lot of buisnesses do that!

I've been going there for like two years and overall it's alright. Never had anything like this happen, but the usual stuff still comes up----sometimes a spot is still there and the starch is too heavy, etc. But they have never been rude about fixing it. I will however look into maybe someplace if you guys think it's cheaper---my biggest thing is that I want a drive up kind of place. It's hard to find parking over there at VIP with the nail place always hopping and I have two kids to get out and mess with just to run dry cleaning in. Anyone know if Mustang Cleaners or even that new place that opened by CVS does drop offs?

The Red Barn cleaners on the SouthSide near Las Trojas, I can't remember the name, offers a walkout service.  When you pull up, they have signs posted with their phone number and it tells you they will come out to you.  I was impressed with this kind of service.
