Ok, I have to step in with my 2 cents here. Boomer, have you played football at the collegiate level. If not, then you "are a fool and don't understand the concept of football and what it is "ALL" about" I did play at the collegiate level and I can tell you that the only thing that matters is the result when my team steps on the field with your team. Stats and records don't mean  :Picard:
So you can take all your stats and choke on them because they don't mean anything until OU crosses the .500 winning percentage in heads up matchups against UT

I couldn't play college ball because of a back injury in High School. Because, I was unable to play doesn't mean that I am by any means a "fool" and don't understand the concept of football. There is so much more to a "football program" than just wins and losses. And stats, records, achievements, and accomplishments mean everything when comparing programs. The fact that UT has less isn't OUs fault. OU doesnt have to cross the .500 mark in heads up to be a better football program. Again theres more to a football program than that. Only UT fans think that, because they dont have many other stats that they are better than OU at.

By the way, you did all three as I predicted would happen. You had a comeback, an insult, and an excuse. BUT, nothing new that proves that UT is a better program than OU. Wonder why?

Everyone thinks that. No one thinks OU is a better program because they are one of the most notorious schools from cheating and always have been .Every decade. Well except the 90s, but then again they went 58-48 during that time. hmmmm

LOL @ the head to head record just not counting at all. It just KILLS you to know that even with all of OU's "amazing" stats they are still 19 wins behind the "inferior" program that is Texas. You can have all of your other meaningless stats. I'll take the head to head record.  :sadwavey: Thread closed.

If anyone argues that, they are a fool and don't understand the concept of football and what it is "ALL" about, in the first place. Nor do they understand statistics when presented with them. Talk about the head to head all you want, its merely one (1) little statistic. Find some more, and I mean a lot more.

Excuses, Excuses , and more Excuses.

One head to head record and you think UT is inferior? LOL. LOL some more!

History shows that OU is the better football program. UT hasn't earned more records, hasn't accomplished more, hasn't achieved more. So you are all in denial because you know you have been put in your place. If not, then put me in mine. Show me where UT is the better program. Head to head record aint it, it's only one stat. you need a minimum of 29 more to be even with OU. You can't come up with them. No one can. They dont exist. Even ESPN knows who the better football team "historically" is and that is taking into consideration your stupid head to head statistic. You know OU is the better of the two but go ahead and remain in denial. I understand how you must feel. All this time you thought and believed OU wasn't a better program than yours. I'm sure facing the reality of that not being the case sucks.

Sooner, your statistics are great, but at the end of the day, TEXAS owns ou on the field, that is what truly matters.  Now, you claim you have the stats to prove ou is a better program/team and that TEXAS fans cannot counter, but to me it appears as though you are merely digging for something to prove your team, as that cannot be done for you guys on the field....

Any who, here is something for you to choke on....

Put in my place? No son I haven't. It's pathetic that because you think something as irrelevant as having more heismans means more then the fact OU can't beat their daddy more then their daddy beats them. If OU was able to actually beat UT on the field, I wouldn't even be trying to argue with you because you would be 100% right. But until OU can beat Texas ON THE FIELD where it matters, then you have nothing to say. You can have your stats. I'm happy knowing UT > OU on the field. You can have your heismans

Just stop talking. You are just getting desperate now.

1 of 3. I did have a comeback but I did not make an excuse and I did not insult you. Atleast, nowhere on the level of you telling other board members (UT fans) to "suck it".

The fact is that the heads up games are all that matter in deciding which team is historically better. If we all thought, as you say, that records and stats were most important then there would be no point in playing the game.

Not just more Heismans, read the list again, theres a lot more than that.

Historically yes, UT has won more, I wont argue that. The problem everyone is having is that I am not questioning/arguing that. I am arguing who is the better football program. Head to head doesn't prove that. It's only 1 statistic of many that decides who is better All Time.

As far as stopping talking, I told you how I will do that, accept my challenge, collect your stats and lets see who has more, if UT does, I'm outta here.

3 of 3
1. You had a "comeback" to the defense of UT or you wouldn't be in this thread. You certainly aren't on my side.
2. You said I was a "fool". That is an insult. No matter what mine was, you still made one. And if you are not a UT fan then mine wasn't directed at you anyways.
3. Stating that head to head records is all that matters in what determines the better football program is a "excuse".

1. I did have a comeback and I admitted that. That is why I said 1 of 3.

2. Fool was your word as I simply quoted your statement, in quotation marks. In that statement you said that anyone who thinks head to head is most important is a "fool". I simply turned your statement back on you. It seems that you have no problem using insulting words towards others but you get upset when someone says something even close to insulting toward you. The fact is I actually played the game and you didn't. Therefore, my understanding is superior to yours and I know that on field matchups are all that matter.

3. I would submit that head to head record is all that matters and your use of stats is an excuse.

Having said this, can this thread get back to smack talking our teams without insulting each other? First because its against site rules and second becasuse I would like to think we are all friends that happen to like different teams.

How many times has OU choked in a big game, ie. BCS/Title game, and how many times has tu choked?  I know OU had choked alot recently.  :)

I will have to agree to disagree with you and others on #3 above.

BigC- My problem isn't with you on this thread so if I offended you, I apologize.

Before I respond to your question I would like to know what your meaning is of the word "choke". It can mean several different things and be used several different ways.

I was speaking to everyone in general. No offense taken and I apologize also if I offended you.

Back to the subject at hand... We could argue forever on what constitutes a better program but the fact still remains that UT is OU's daddy heads up on the field. ;D

Good catch, BS.  Choke will mean whatever helps someone prove their point the most, so yes I guess it is subjective.  But hey, let's ignore the recent missteps of OU against USC, Boise State, etc.  :)

Yes Tony, I agree, congrats to these two players for how well they played. Both programs should be proud. OU a little more so than UT because after all Hartley did etch his name into the Super Bowl record book. Just sayin.....

Gonzo, sorry I didn't respond sooner. I had a family function last night and I wasn't able to retrieve these numbers till this morning. Since you are leaving it up to me to decide what a "choke" means, in this case I will consider it to be a loss in a big game (bowl). With that heres the statistics:

BCS Bowl records (12 years in existence):
OU 2-5 .286% #9 in BCS
UT 3-1 .750% #4 (tied) Note: There are 10 teams tied for first.
Source: http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819309

All Time Bowl Records:
OU 25-17-1 .593% #9 Nationally
UT 25-22-2 .530% #15 Nationally
Source: http://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/bowls/team_records_best_winpct.php

Here are some facts about each:
BCS:
Each team has won a National Championship under the BCS system ADV: Tie
Appearances in BCS game: OU 7(#2 in Nation)  UT  4  ADV:OU
Appearances in National Championship game: OU  4(#1Nation)  UT  2  ADV: OU
Winning Percentage: OU  .286 (#9 Nationally)  UT .750 (#4 Nationally) ADV: UT
Number of Wins: OU  2  UT  3  ADV: UT

All Time Bowl:
National Championships  OU  7 (#1 Nation)  UT  4  ADV: OU
Bowl Appearances  OU  43  UT  49  ADV: UT
Winning Percentage  OU .593 (#9 Nation)  UT .530 (#15 Nation)  ADV: OU
Number of wins OU  25  UT  25  ADV: TIE
OU has scored more PF than PA, UT is reverse. ADV: OU

So what I come up with is:
BCS: 2-2-1 Tie
All Time: OU 3-1-1 Better
