Phase 1 Trash Pick Up

Our trash day is today, but I assume due to the holiday it won't be picked up.

Does anyone know what day they will be picking up our trash this week?  ???

They came and got ours this morning.  I barely got it out there in time once I heard the truck cause I was sure they wouldn't be running today. :mad:

I put my can out this morning "just in case" and now I'm glad I did.
I guess Labor Day is not one of their holidays....

Taxes should be used for NEEDS not wants.  You WANT something extra/special pay for it yourself, don't share the burden with other homeowners.  Why should people's taxes be so high and unaffordable?

Leave them out.   There's a pretty good chance they will come by and pick them up tomorrow since people aren't ever sure if there's trash pickup on holidays.

It's like a game:  Will they or won't they pick up our trash today?  Fun for the whole family!  Great exercise as you jump off the sofa to lug out your cans the moment you hear the sound of the trucks! 

I envision two trash men driving slowly around a corner.  Suddenly they floor it, screeching down the road laughing at the poor homeowner who didn't quite make it to the curb on time.

Yes, I have too much time on my hands.......but my trash was picked up today  ^thumbs

They were late on Richmond.  Picked up about 20 minutes ago.  Hopefully they'll show up.

I don't know how it works in cities with outsourced trash service (i.e., Forney who outsources to IESI), but in cities that still provide their own solid waste disposal services to their residents, it's usually those guys who are called upon after a big rain to remove brush and debris from roadways, etc., so I wouldn't be surprised if IESI found themselves very, very busy on Monday. I also saw a lot of junk left on the curb throughout Windmill Farms from the garage sale - including a refrigerator.

FYI, IESI can't/won't pick up a refrigerator unless it's been properly serviced and drained and tagged as such. It has to have all the refrigerant removed before they can transport it. Not sure if it's a safety issue, an environmental issue or both, but if you put a fridge out on the curb and it's not tagged, it's not going anywhere - at least, not until an enterprising individual with a truck decides they want it, which, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be happening on my block this week, since I still see a fridge on the curb...
